Rev. Maggie Covenant McNaught

Senior Pastor since 2005

Prior to her arrival in Loomis, Maggie spent seven years as Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Palo Alto. Maggie has specialized in multicultural and diversity issues in both university and church settings. For 10 years prior to that she worked in campus ministries at the University of California at Davis, Indiana University, and the University of California in Berkeley. She has also led delegations to Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, and Tonga. and has been a volunteer missionary working with youth and doing crisis counseling with families in Nicaragua through the Maryknoll Sisters.

Maggie holds bachelors degrees in Human Relations and Psychology (1977), the Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio (1983), and a Masters of Arts in Social/Clinical Psychology from New College of California in San Francisco (1991). She also holds a certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Mercy Center in Burlingame (1998) and certificates in Herbal Medicine Studies.

Outside of work, she loves bicycling, tennis, backpacking, camping, and growing herbs, and of course, learning to see the world afresh through the eyes of her elementary school age daughter. Maggie shares her life with her partner, the poet, Cliff Covenant Gassoway, who currently works as the Administrator of the Spirit in the Arts Center in Sacramento and with their daughter, Kyna.
